Add police lights to any FiveM car

You do not need ELS or a lights script for emergency lights. GTA has a native siren system; a car only needs lights placed on it, siren bones and a siren setting. Here is how to add them to any car, from a full lightbar to hidden LEDs.

What a car needs for native lights

  • The lights themselves: a lightbar or LED housings modelled on the car, with lamp parts that can glow.
  • Siren bones on each lamp, which GTA uses to flash the lamp and cast light.
  • A siren setting in carcols.meta with colours, sequences and light settings, linked from carvariations.meta.

Doing this by hand means Blender, Sollumz, bone placement and hand-written meta. The editor does it for you.

Add them in the browser

  1. Open the car in the Vehicle Editor: upload the resource or its YFT and YTD.
  2. Open Emergency lights and pick one:
    • an original GTA lightbar (police and interceptor bars);
    • unmarked LEDs for the visor, rear window or grille;
    • LED roof, dash or rear-deck bars in any colour.
  3. Place it on the car with the gizmo: move, rotate and scale it until it sits on the roof or behind the glass.
  4. Choose colours and a flash pattern, and press preview to watch it flash.
  5. Export. The car comes with siren bones, glowing lamp materials and a carcols setting with a free siren ID.

In game

Press E (the normal siren control) to toggle the lights. Because it is GTA’s own system, other players see them, and scripts that read siren state keep working.

Frequently asked

Does it work without ELS?

Yes. The lights use GTA's own siren system and turn on with the normal siren control (E). No ELS, no extra script.

Can I hide the lights for an unmarked car?

Yes. Choose small LED strips for the visor, grille or rear window instead of a roof bar.

Which colours and patterns are there?

Red and blue, all blue or amber, with alternating, double-flash or rapid patterns. Original GTA lightbars keep their factory colours and pattern.

What does it cost?

Emergency lights are a one-time unlock in the Vehicle Editor. The export itself is charged like any other export.
